The form and payment are to be tendered to the Municipal Payment window on the ground floor of the Government Plaza. All cases with an active warrant will be placed on the Add-On Docket and all warrants associated with a failure to appear will be withdrawn. To come before the Court on the Add-On Docket, a Defendant must fill out the Add-On Form and pay an amended bond amount. Specialized DocketsĪdd-on Court – Add-On Court is a docket designed for Defendants who have missed a court date and an active alias warrant has been issued for the Defendant’s arrest. A Defendant may also call witnesses and present evidence to prove his/her innocence. Trial – On the day of trial, the City Prosecutor will call witnesses and provide evidence to the Court to prove the Defendant’s guilt. Based upon the offer, a Defendant will enter a plea of guilty before the Court and will be sentenced to the agreed upon offer or will request a trial date. If a Defendant is requesting an appointed attorney based upon indigent status, the Defendant will have to provide a form to the Court with the Defendants’ financial status listed to prove eligibility.ĭisposition – By the disposition hearing date the City Prosecutor will have provided an offer of settlement. Counsel may be retained or appointed by the Judge based upon the specifics of the case. Bond hearing- During a bond hearing, also known as a first appearance hearing, the person who has been arrested is informed of the charges against them and a Municipal Judge will determine if the Defendant is eligible for bond and set the appropriate amount.Īrraignment – At arraignment a Defendant must appear before a Judge with or without counsel and enter a plea of Not Guilty or Guilty.
